Leapers UTG 3-9x40 AO True Hunter Rifle Scope Review
The majority of high powered pellet rifles available for purchase are high quality guns that will provide hours of enjoyment, enabling the shooter to successfully pursue small game such as rabbits, squirrels, raccoons and other animals. However, many of these high powered air rifles include factory supplied scopes that don't even come close to matching the quality of the gun. Having purchased multiple break barrel air rifles, I have found that the included scopes are not able to hold up to the stresses of being mounted to these guns. The break barrel air rifle puts added stress on a scope because of its "double recoil." With each new purchase I hoped that the manufacturer had upped their game and included a scope that was worthy of mounting to their rifle, and each time I have been let down. High powered, precision air rifles require scopes that are rugged enough to handle the recoil. Even a high dollar scope that is manufactured for a powerful rifle can be destroyed by a break-barrel air rifle. After purchasing several scopes, I managed to find the Leapers UTG 3-9x40 AO True Hunter Scope. Advertised as a scope capable of handling the stresses put on it by the most powerful air rifles, it has not let me down. I have found this scope to be dead on accurate with every shot taken.
This scope features a 40mm adjustable objective lens with 1/4 MOA meaning the trajectory of the pellet will be adjusted by 1/4 of an inch at 100 yards with each click. The illuminated Mil-dot reticle offers 36 color variations to ensure that it can be adjusted making it usable for nearly every situation. The parallax can be adjusted from 5 yards to infinity with a field of view ranging from 11.5 ft to 34.5 ft and an eye relief of 3.2 inches to 3.9 inches. The reticle is black if the scope is not powered on, and can be used even if the batteries go dead. The Leapers UTG 3-9x40 AO True Hunter Scope is sold with one CR2032 3V lithium battery and flip open lens caps. This scope is 12.6 inches long, weighs just over 12 ounces and has emerald coated optics which allow a light transmission of 95%. Because it is nitrogen filled, the scope is shockproof, fog proof, rainproof.
A set of Picatinny/weaver mount a rings is included with the scope; however, if your gun of choice has a dovetail mount, you will need to purchase a set of rings to go along with it.
I have personally been using the Leapers UTG 3-9x40 AO True Hunter Scope on my Mach 1 Pig Man edition break-barrel air rifle for more than a year now, and after more than 1000 shots it is still just as reliable as the day I sighted it in. Finally.....No more wasted money on scopes that just won't hold up!
