Ultimate Homemade Catfish Bait Recipe

When you think of dough baits for catfish you probably think about the ones that are readily available on the big box store shelves. Next time you plan to buy dough bait, save your money and make your own with this ultimate homemade catfish bait recipe. By making your own you can save a lot of money, and we all know what extra money is good for......more fishing poles!

I don't think you'll find a recipe that's any easier to make.

Homemade Dough Bait

Mix a good amount of vanilla into a cup of water and bring it to a boil. While waiting on this mix one cup of flour with one cup of corn meal in a separate bowl and blend them together completely. Once your water is boiling stir the dry ingredients in slowly so that there are no clumps. Continue stirring until all water is soaked up into the mixture and remove it from the heat source. Spread some flour out onto a cutting board or your counter top and knead the dough bait. Continue working it until it has a consistency that ensures it will stay on a treble hook. After allowing the dough bait to cool completely place it into a ziplock bag or even a cool whip container or cottage cheese container.

Vanilla is not the only scent that can be used. Go down the baking aisle and get creative. For that matter, mix a good amount of garlic or some other seasoning into the dough.

Now that you have an endless supply of dough bait that literally costs pennies to make, get out there and catch some fish!
