A Washed Out Hunting Trip
Having decided that it would make no sense to travel fifty miles to end up turning around and heading right back home, I chose to cancel todays hunting trip for fear of drowning. This decision lead to a father-daughter date. If you're not going to be in the woods, you might as well go to the next best place. Where is that you ask......Bass Pro Shops of course!
The first thing Emilee wanted was to get in some target practice at the laser shooting gallery. Of course I had no options but to show her that daddy could beat her at this game! We checked out everything there was to see in the hunting section and decided to try a little fudge (the salted caramel was a really good choice).
After nearly inducing a sugar coma we headed off to explore the lower level and all it had to offer, but not before making a pit stop at the top of the staircase to catch a little water from the waterfall that flows into the fish tank below. Emilee decided to make sure that I was unable to stay dry even if we were inside. I guess it was her way of getting me back for beating her at our shooting competition earlier in the evening.
We explored the lower level to the fullest extent looking at everything from ATVs to boats to the taxidermy and everything in between.
Upon making our way to the area where the four wheelers were staged we had to check out every one of them before we could move on to the boats.
Emilee found two boats that she was particularly fond of. As you can see from her two favorites in the picture above she has some really expensive taste. She better marry a doctor!
Once we finished our tour of the Bass Pro Shop we headed home; of course, we made a stop by Quick Trip to indulge ourselves with frappes for the ride. Although I wasn't in the woods today, I did have a wonderful evening with my daughter. This is an opportunity I wouldn't have missed for anything!
The next time your hunting trip is rained out consider spending some time with your children. The memories made through these experiences will be forever remembered.
- Any day in the outdoors (or an outdoor store) is a good day
