Vacation 2016 - Day 2

Once we finally arrived in Chattanooga Tennessee, we found our hotel and headed to bed. The next morning we headed out for a day of adventure that our children won't soon forget.

Rock City was our first stop of the day. This place is amazing with walking trails that lead you under, over, around and through countless beautiful rock formations. If you ever have the chance to get out there and check it out, you definitely should. We spent hours exploring the varying twists and turns through the different passes the amazing bluffs had to offer.

There are amazing views along the way with beautiful trees and scenic overlooks. The photo below depicts one of the paths to one of the areas that overlooks the valley below. If you have a fear of heights, there is an alternate path that leads to the same place. Today I faced my fear of heights and decided to take in the swinging bridge experience.

The tree pictured below caught my attention.

After finishing our exploration of Rock City, we headed over to Ruby Falls..... This is a great place for any cave lover to visit. After we had finished exploring all the nooks and crannies in Rock City, we headed to our next destination - Ruby Falls. There is an abundance of photo opportunities inside this beautiful cavern and I have attempted to do them justice with some of the photos in this post.

A Column Inside The Cave

The formations inside the cave have been named after food,

animals and numerous other items of interest.

Steak And Potatoes At Ruby Falls

As an avid fisherman found it necessary to capture the following image.......

The Fish At Ruby Falls

Halfway through your roundtrip adventure the cave opens up to display the main attraction......

The majestic and awe inspiring waterfall that earned this cave its name.

The Beautiful Waterfall

After taking the elevator 260 feet back up to the surface, we headed on down the road to Memphis, Tennessee where we stayed in our next hotel. What could possibly attract a midwestern country boy to the city of Memphis? Check out the next post and you'll find out!
