Vacation 2016 - Day 1

It's finally time for our 2016 vacation. We've waited for this moment for five years. For this special occasion, my wife and I have decided to take an adventurous trip through several states checking out varying sites along the way. Day one has had us traveling through Missouri and into Tennessee. Upon leaving the Kansas City area we drove to St. Louis where we stopped for gas and to eat lunch before heading on our way.

Once we arrived in Nashville we ate at a BBQ restaurant called Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint. The food there was amazing. This meal was well worth stopping for, although trying to find a parking spot was a bit on the difficult side. Any BBQ lover who is visiting Nashville should definitely stop in and try out their food. In keeping with the adventurous theme of our vacation, I had to try the Devil's Nectar BBQ Sauce. Without a doubt it lives up to its name. If you like your food spicy, or if you want to clear up your sinuses.......this is your sauce!

From Martin's we headed over to the Grand O'le Opry. Although we were unable to tour the inside of the building, we were able to take some photos outside. As you can see our children were awe struck by the two giant guitars.

After taking some photos we headed to Chattanooga, Tennessee where we stayed the night. As morning arrived we headed out to continue our adventure. Our first day of traveling covered nearly 700 miles. Surprisingly, our kids behaved themselves quite well as we spent many hours in our vehicle on the first leg of this adventure.

We have planned new destinations for each day of this journey which will leave us sleeping somewhere new every night until we arrive back home.

- Any day in the outdoors is a good day
